I don't know how I got to a random Filipino forum (due to incessant clicking at random links, maybe). I was irritated because of what I've seen and read, and a Y!M contact's status message was the last straw to break my back.
I am infuriated.
Why do you have to use these distortions of certain Filipino words in the effort to look 'cool'? LET ME TELL YOU THIS. IT IS NOT F***ING COOL. I can take toggle caps (tOgGLe CaPs) a notch lower than I can take your stupid and deliberate misspellings and word butchering.
I just can't understand why people tend to use brutal shortcuts and misspellings in blog entries, journal posts, Y!M status messages, forum replies, and social networking site profiles, while they have access to virtually unlimited character capacity, spaces and all 26 letters of the freaking alphabet in front of them. Save the text language for texting, please. Another thing that puzzles me is
why people tend to choose misspellings that are actually longer than the original word they want to type. They even add extra letters that aren't present in the word phonetically. Don't get me started with the obscene usage of punctuation.
Examples:'Di coh kc alam yhun'
'I love you, j*** coh'
'Nwala cel coh'
'nAVOetAst' (Navotas to, maniwala kayo't sa hindi.)
'cHAvii nG mGAh fWEnDz qEw'
'tAtaNgAPEn kiTAh bsTAh bAH TEZti cOUh aAhh'
Possible response to criticism and attack to their usage of dismantled and corrupted word forms and spellings would be "Naiintindihan naman eh"(It can be understood anyhow), "Pareho lang ang tunog" (They sound the same), "Design lang yung excess letters"(The excess letters are just design). Present these arguments to me and let's see you take a dive in the murky and boiling waters of my OC-driven and nationalistic anger. I care about Filipino grammar and form so much, because for me, the beauty of our language lies within it; within this beauty lies what and how unique we are. It's cliche, I know...and I can go all day about how Manuel Quezon declared Filipino as our National Language and how Rizal emphasize its importance, as well as how important it is for us to use, care and be proud of it, but I bet shitloads of Filipinos wouldn't care a pinch.
I have utmost respect for the language because its form is so beautiful and intricately created by centuries of rich culture and signs of survival through years of invasion and colonization. The Filipino language we have today may be a hybrid, but its function and form managed to stay beautiful. The language have survived for so long this way, and I can't tolerate you butchering it into a piece of rotten meat that we can no longer recognize as our own.
Besides having been known for ending the career of almost all of the Hispanic boxers there is, we are known for plaguing and living in every known crevice in this planet, even the internet. The internet is a public place, and foreigners from almost all the nations in the world today can access other territories via a simple click.
To you who bear no conscience over preserving the form of our own language in blog entries, journal posts, Y!M status messages, forum replies, and social networking site profiles---THE WHOLE WORLD SEES WHAT YOU'RE DOING.
You butcher your own language, you might as well cut your own guts out.
How dare you deface your own heritage in front of the whole world.~~~~~~~~
**It's a bit ironic I wrote something to defend the Filipino language in English. But it's just so everyone can read it, not just those who can understand Filipino.
