Valentine's day: Love is in the Air!
it was nice to see people running around looking for the ones that they love, giving them roses, chocolates, etc.
we too, the CYL 4 and the SCB officers were running around. we had this booth which sold roses and chocolates to celebrate the joyous occasion.
every fifteen minutes, you could see guys carrying roses and wooing their girls. a guy was asking his girl if she could be his prom date on the 24th. all these things happened starting at 9 in the morning to the late afternoon.
I got my own swig of these moments at 6:30 in the morning.
too early, you say?
well for me, it was perfect timing.
thanks for the card and the bracelet.
i appreciate them.
FEBRUARY 18
Econtention Debate finals: UP Economics building
That day, in itself is very taxing. but to add up to my agony, I had my monthly curse. dammit.
Janica's team [which included me as the whip], Gerald's team and Domeng's team met up early in the Palma hall to be able to register for the contest. but the darnest fact is that, the contest is not to be held in the Palma hall, but in the UP School of Economics, which was a 100+ meters away. so we had to walk and spoil our outfits just to reach the venue.
it was a curious thing that we were, in fact, too early. none of the UP debate society members nor our fellow contestants were there. we waited for 15 minutes before we were ushered inside the conference hall. and inside the conference hall, we had our butts frozen for another hour before we finally saw the other debaters. Then finally, before we knew it, the match-ups and the motions were being announced already.
Us vs. STC-MHCS.
To make the long [and painful] story short, we lost to them.
Gerald's team made it to the quarter finals.
Gerald-Monci-Yeye vs. STC-MHCS.
They also lost to them.
but nevertheless, at least we went that far.
Bitter? Nope.
FEBRUARY 20-22
Prom practices.
One word: nakakatamad.
Perk: No classes.
Well, that compensates for that lazy feeling.
FEBRUARY 23
Whole day prom practice.
~~~~~
9-10:30 pm
"Miles!"
"Ano?"
*the entity who said miles' name grabs her hands and wiggles them playfully into the air*
"Ano ba yan, ang kulit mo! Ano bang problema mo?"
*continues to wiggle miles' hands*
"wala lang!"
"wag kang makulit!" *miles breaks free from the entity*
*entity laughs*
"Miles!"
"Ano?"
*the entity puts his arms around miles' neck and pulls me near him*
"Date na kita sa prom bukas ah!"
"ano?"
"Date na kita sa prom bukas!"
"Loko to!"
"bat ba? Sige na, bilis!"
*miles takes entity's arm of her neck*
"ganto. Toss coin tau...pag heads, hindi, pag tails, oo."
"sige!"
*entity brings out a one peso coin, flips it into the air, catches it and turns around*
"ano lumabas?"
*shows coin to miles*
"tails! O yan! Tails!"
"nye, alang daya!"
"sige, let's let the floor decide nalang."
*entity flips the coin. Coin hits the ground. Both looks at the coin*
"tails! Tails oh!"
"nyek, heads kaya."
*entity stops*
"ay, heads nga."
*miles laughs*
"nagpaloko ka naman sakin, uto uto..."
"eh, heads eh...."
*miles laughs*
"sige na. kahit heads, sige na."
~~~~
Erm...ehem...
*nervous chuckle*
Next post: promenade.

february [late] update
well...well...well.
what do you know.
I updated my blog.
it's been a long time since I posted here...the love month's nearing its end, so I must at least write something about the things that happened.
so..once again...here goes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. FEBRUARY 4
the E-contention debate competition.
I was sick that day. So I came late. I was thisclose to being disqualified from the team because of my tardiness. Thank God I arrived in the School of Economics before the rest of the debate team arrived.
So in short, I wasn't kicked from the team. *sighs in relief*
we arrived there just in time for the competition.
It was a very weird thing that no bone in my body was feeling nervous. It turned out to be a bad sign.
The Elimination round was composed of three sub-rounds. The first set of motions that were given by the UPDS days before were the motions for the first sub-round.
Why oh, why do I have to get sick on the competition day itself?
1.
FIRST fry-session: SWING team of the UP DEBATE SOCIETY.
MOTION: THBT This house would allow 100% foreign ownership of miningcorporations located in non-indigenous lands.
First reaction: Dammit.
we gave it our best shot, but the guys from the UPDS were so damn good.
in short, we lost to them. But I can say that we put up a good fight.
2.
SECOND fry-session:TEAM 2, PASIG CATHOLIC COLLEGE
MOTION: TH would suspend WTO membership of countries with Nuclear Programs for military purposes.
First reaction: We can't lose. Dammit.
after a grueling process of demoralization counter-attack, we proceeded to the room of our second debate.
The team wanted/decided on the motion which said something about space programs of third world countries being a pie in the sky, but then, the process of choosing the motion became known to us because of the PCC debate team. we had to veto on the motion to be debated upon.
the whole debate went smoothly. though we weren't abale to describe and give full details about the WTO due to some factors, we won this round. :D
3.
THIRD [deep]fry-session : TEAM 3, ATENEO DE MANILA HIGH SCHOOL
MOTION: THW impose a global ceiling for military expenses.
First reaction: OMG. ateneo. dammit.
ateneo. the school which carried the best debaters in the philippines.
we are up for a big challenge.
I was really scared that I stood there and froze. I spoke for a good 3 minutes.
Thank you janica for that great reply speech.
IN SHORT...WE GOT INTO THE FINALS on FEB 18. pray for us.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
to be continued...i need to hit the sack right now.
