Me and my family went home to Nueva Ecija last October 30. It was like the finale of my so -called "sembreak" (as if it was a break *rolls eyes*). We left Manila at about 9 am and arrived there around 1 in the afternoon. Since we had very limited time, we had to cram all of the activities lined up for All Souls' day. We just stopped by the house to eat and rest for 30 minutes, then we left for the Municipal cemetery where my grandparents from both sides of the family (yes, I've got no grandparents anymore T.T) were interred. We stayed there for an hour and a half . We then left to go to the compound of my mom's side of the family. When my cousins (most of them are little kids) saw us, they came rushing to us. There was a lot of hugging and kissing and shaking hands everywhere. We ate dinner there and then my aunt (the sister of my dad) called up my phone to say that my uncle and his family were already there. So we had to say goodbye to eveyone in the compound. My aunts had to lie to the kids and said that I was just going to the market and I was to return because they won't let me leave. Daryll Joy (we call her DJ), the youngest at two years old was hysterically crying and pounding the floor. She was clinging at me like a fly stuck to flypaper. After 20 minutes, they finally let go of me. I left the house nearly in tears. I love the kids, and if I could, I'd bring them all with me. *sigh*
We arrived at my dad's house to see my only cousin from my father's side lying on the couch watching TV. She stood up and gave me a big hug. We went to the kitchen to eat ice cream and barbeque and we watched Tv while telling stories.
The next day, we went to the cemetery again to bring flowers and light the candles for the dear departed at about 8 in the morning. After that, we went home to get our bags and left Cuyapo at 9:30 am.
We left the province yesterday to be able to go to school today. But the thing is, I recieved lot af text messages saying that school's been called off until november 3. We go back at the 7th. I could have rejoiced and slaughtered a pig to roast but I was pissed.
I could have stayed a bit longer in the province. I could have spent a lot more time with my family there. gargh. But then, what's the use? I'm already here.
I woke up at 8 am the next day to see my phone has received a lot of messages. Almost all of them were asking if there are classes tomorrow. Some of them were saying that there were classes tomorrow, and that "miss Aurora", the personel from DepEd was a security guard and was incapable of making official declarations of any sort.
Great. there goes my vacation. After much deliberation and investigation, plus the load of text messages cofirming that there are classes tomorrow...i guess there are classes tomorrow.
dammit.
